What exactly does Serene Assist do?
We provide non-medical companion care and personal assistance for elderly individuals in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs. Our services include safe transport, doctor appointment accompaniment, shopping assistance, companion visits, errand running, and social outing support.
Is Serene Assist a nursing or home care agency?
No. We are not a medical or nursing service. We focus on daily living support, companionship, and safe transport – helping seniors maintain their independence without clinical intervention.
Can you help with once-off requests or only regular bookings?
Both. Many families start with a single trip to a doctor or a one-time shopping errand. Others prefer weekly scheduled visits. We’re flexible and adapt to your family’s needs.
Safety & Screening
Are your caregivers background-checked?
Yes. Every Serene Assist caregiver undergoes criminal record checks, reference verification, and a personal interview before joining our team. Your loved one’s safety is our top priority.
Will the same person assist my parent each time?
We aim for consistency. Wherever possible, the same caregiver is assigned to your loved one so a trusting relationship can develop naturally.
What happens in an emergency during a service?
Our caregivers carry emergency contact details. We contact the family immediately and, if needed, take the client to the nearest medical facility.
Booking & Payments
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept EFT (bank transfer), and cash. Invoices are sent after each service or monthly for regular clients.
Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?
Yes. We ask for at least 12 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes. Late cancellations may incur a small fee – details are provided at booking.
Do you offer packages or discounts for regular bookings?
Yes. Families who book weekly or bi-weekly services receive preferential rates. Contact us for a personalised package quote.

Do you operate on public holidays?
